Anti-Slip Floor Coatings San Antonio

Where Slip-Resistant Coatings Are Used
Slip-resistant coatings are selected for environments where traction matters. Surface contamination, water, oil, footwear, cleaning, and the texture level all influence actual traction, so the system is matched to the environment rather than chosen generically.
Common applications include commercial walkways, workshops, warehouses, industrial floors, service areas, garages, utility areas, commercial kitchens where system-appropriate, pool and patio surfaces where appropriate, and wet-prone environments.
Texture should be selected based on environment. Too much texture may complicate cleaning; too little may not provide the desired traction. The right level balances safety and maintenance for the specific floor.
Preparation & Installation
Anti-slip texture is part of a complete flooring system, not simply loose material thrown onto concrete. The aggregate is broadcast into a wet coating layer and locked in by a compatible topcoat.
- Existing surface assessment — condition and existing coatings.
- Concrete grinding — mechanical profiling for adhesion.
- Existing coating removal — clearing failed or worn coatings.
- Repairs — addressing cracks, spalls, and defects.
- Moisture — conditions that affect system selection.
- Base coating — the resinous layer that receives the aggregate.
- Aggregate broadcast or texturing method — traction where needed.
- Topcoat — locking the texture into the system.
- Final texture review — confirming the traction level.
For the detailed preparation behind these systems, see the concrete grinding & surface preparation page.
Texture & Floor System Options
Texture levels are selected conceptually around the environment. Dry Coats does not publish slip-resistance numbers without actual testing and specifications.
- Light traction texture — easier cleaning, modest traction.
- Moderate aggregate — balanced traction and cleanability.
- More aggressive industrial texture — higher traction for demanding areas.
Compatible categories include epoxy systems, polyaspartic coatings, urethane systems, urethane cement systems, and outdoor concrete coatings where appropriate. The coating chemistry and the texture are selected together for the environment.
Cleaning versus traction is the core tradeoff. More aggressive texture improves traction but can hold soil and complicate cleaning; lighter texture is easier to maintain but provides less grip. The right level is a deliberate decision for the specific floor.
